Shipping.fo surveys your vessel according to the IHM Code, providing Asbestos and Inventory of Hazardous Material Reports onboard all types of vessels to comply with the various International Regulations and Guidance determined by which state the work is being undertaken.

Our Surveyors and HazMat Experts have been fully trained and certified by RINA for the preparing of IHM reports.

The European Union (EU) has issued Regulation No. 1257/2013 (EU SSR) on ship recycling, it entered into force on 30 December 2013. It is an early implementation for the Hong Kong International Convention for the Safe and Environmentally Sound Recycling of Ships which has not yet entered into force.

By 31 December 2020, all vessels above 500 GT flying an EU flag, and non-EU flagged vessels calling at an EU or EEA member state port or anchorage must comply with the regulation. This applies to both cargo and fishing vessels.

The Regulation for Ship Recycling  Regulation No 1257/2013 makes it mandatory to carry an IHM on board by the latest 31 December 2020 for existing vessels. Furthrmore, vessels must carry on board a supporting Statement of Compliance (SoC).

Preparng an IHM list requires advanced palnning, and it requires assistance from a Certified HazMat Expert. Anyone using an IHM expert for compiling or updating an IHM mustbe able to confirm that the IHM expert is competent to carry out the work required.

When the IHM list is completed, either Flag or class surveyor must verify the inventory list and issue a Statement of Compliance to the vessel.
